San Juan del Sur

San Juan del Sur is located on a bay close to the Costa Rican border, and is a popular destination for foreign and national tourists. It is a beautiful town, with many nearby beaches. The high degree of development in due to tourist and real estate markets has not accrued to the entire local community, and poverty remains a serious problem. ATRAVES has worked with Colegio Stella Maris, a local primary school, and an educational program in the outlying community of Las Brisas. ATRAVES volunteers have helped with English teaching, light construction, and other efforts.
