Juigalpa

Juigalpa is the capital of the department of Chontales, in central Nicaragua on the north side of Lake Cocibolca. Chontales is heavily agricultural, with a strong focus on cattle, and Juigalpa has a bit of a cowboy aesthetic to it. ATRAVES works with a vegetable farming cooperative close to the center of the city, called Cooperativa Eddy Alonso. We help to support health service on the cooperative using natural and allopathic medicine, primarily targeting women's health. Many ATRAVES volunteers have worked on the cooperative, helping with health efforts, agriculture and education.
